Self Care Sunday: Coloring

Sunday is a day to slow down, relax, and take care of you! The notion of the lazy Sunday has been around for ages, but what about a mindful Sunday? Why not take that extra time to wrap up the week and give yourself a little bit of love? Here on the Charitee blog, Sunday is the day where we wind down and tune in. Welcome to Self Care Sunday!

This Sunday, we're taking care of all those jitters and stress. If you're in college, you're probably feeling the crunch of midterm season, and even if not, we're in a time of seasonal transition that might be putting everyone a little bit on edge. It's important to relax with tasks that are fun and calm, which is why coloring is such a great idea!

Coloring has been proven to improve stress and help with fidgeting. There's no pressure to finish a coloring page you start, but if you do, you can always start a new one! You can color in silence, or you can listen to your favorite music or podcast.

Even if you don't feel like you have a whole lot of time, it might be useful to take ten minutes on a day you're feeling that crunch and clear your mind with some colored pencils and markers. If it's good enough for kindergarteners, it's good enough for everybody!

Since adult coloring books have come into fashion recently, there are many to choose from. But, if you don't want to splurge on one, there are lots of other options. You can always run to the kids' section in target and locate your favorite Disney princess or superhero (nobody will care, it's for you after all), or you could even download coloring books and print individual pages whenever you need just one! For example, linked below is a badass Ruth Bader Ginsburg coloring book that's sure to lift your spirits!

So, what are you waiting for! Sit back, relax, and get your rainbow on!
